With rain beginning to fall only 300 metres from the track, we were getting a bit nervous.
Only a fortnight before the track was transformed to Lake Heathcote. Yet the home of 1/4
mile drag racing in Victoria's heartland wasn't to let us down that easily, and within
minutes the rain eased, the precipitation rating dropped and the track was dried, thanks
to a warm notherly wind. And with a dry track and the sun shining spring made it's first
appearance for 2010 and so did a number of racers. With an interesting looking VN
commodore returning to the black top, a red (goes faster) Porsche out for the first time,
Placo's Total Performance naturally aspirated green machine running consistantly and a few
heart warming passes from the stars of tomorrow in their junoir dragsters it turned out to
an impressive day. Now with summer only weeks away, and the rain about to be replaced by
beautiful clear skies, its time to dust off the old helmet, pull out the race suit, check
the oil, water and tyre pressure and return to the track for the 2010/2011 season. But
first check out all the highlights from the 12th of September over two parts. And remember
