The popular Touring Car Masters will be run again in 2012 with the calendar being revealed. The sixth season of the Touring Car Masters has been announced today as an exciting eight round program set to keep this showcase of classics as a centrepiece of racing around Australia.
Season 2012 will see the Touring Car Masters alongside the V8 Supercars for five rounds, as a feature category at the ever popular mecca of classic motorsport that is the Muscle Car Masters, and now joining the Shannons Nationals program for two events.
To open the season, the Touring Car Masters will once again fire up on the South Australian streets for the Clipsal 500 Adelaide, a place where the muscle power really comes alive and the crowds flock to the fences to watch the cars and racers of yesteryear put on what is always guaranteed to be a display of power and prowess not to be missed.
As the Touring Car Masters strengthens the relationship with major supporting sponsor Shannons, the series will become a feature category on the 2012 Shannons Nationals calendar, heading to Phillip Island for round two, then returning to celebrate the season finale at Sandown Raceway as the nationals program comes to an end in style in November.
Round three once again heads north to the heat of Hidden Valley, a track filled with challenges and fast becoming a category favourite, before taking the roar of the muscle cars on to Queensland Raceway for the series’ debut as they rejoin the V8 Supercars program.
Father’s Day 2012 will be sure to be made all the more special as the series heads for Eastern Creek’s Muscle Car Masters, a place where drivers and machines can not only race and be admired, but the competitors can in turn admire the plethora of classics that come together each year to make Muscle Car Masters Australia’s biggest celebration of classic motorsport.
Round six will be on to Sandown for the first of two events at the Victorian circuit. Having shown anything can and does happen in the Melbourne weather, the series will light up the tarmac for three exciting races, before taking the entertainment to Mount Panorama for the penultimate round as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Bathurst 1000 – and there couldn’t be a more fitting place to set up for the series’ title decider that will explode at Sandown Raceway when the Touring Car Masters head to the Shannons Nationals program for the series finale.
With new cars, new personalities, many exciting changes across the board and an impressive television package soon to be announced, season 2012 of the Touring Car Masters will certainly be a fitting celebration as the category starts its sixth year on the circuits of Australia, and its sixth year as a stand out favourite in the hearts of motoring enthusiasts.
